Position: Senior Network Engineer

About the Role

  • As the Senior Network Engineer, you will support, maintain, and implement various customer technologies and services. Customers range from media and entertainment to enterprise environments. The candidate will possess a strong work ethic and a hands-on approach to customer interaction and time management. Prior work experience administering large data center environments is preferred.
  •  A successful candidate must have powerful interpersonal and communication skills with a customer-first approach, act as a vendor liaison, and facilitate presentations to customers or professional peers. The Engineer acts as an escalation and training resource for other members of the engineering team, however, the Engineer is expected to work independently and effectively in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.
  •  This position is specifically focused on Arista Networking products. We are vendor agnostic when it comes to networking so experience with other brands is also desired. A basic understanding of Virtualization and Storage deployments is not a requirement for hire but will be required to learn as part of the position.

Required Skills

  • Demonstrate integral knowledge in networking and firewall technologies of varying vendors and be able to apply the knowledge of these methodologies to the customer’s environment.
  • Ability to respond to urgent customer needs quickly and concisely for assistance in network and systems issues while adhering to established change management procedure guidelines.
  • Will have significant experience with administering and deploying firewalls, with a focus in Arista NG-Firewall. (Experience with Fortigate, SonicWall, Palo Alto, Cisco FTD and additional vendors is a bonus)
  • Experience in at minimum two fields of Arista Networking (ex: Security/Wireless/Campus/Datacenter).
  • Provide guidance regarding device and circuit down alerts, issues with network congestion, user performance issues, network latency, voice issues, remote access issues, and network security.
  • Provide network service requests to network access, VLAN changes, network switch and router performance, upgrades to existing hardware and software and remote access, and wireless AP deployments.
  • Assess the current infrastructure solutions in use by our current and new customers providing recommendations for optimization and consolidation.
  • Evaluate customer needs based on requirements, current capacity, and growth trends.
  • Deliver engineering specifications, assist with functional specifications, and collaborate on technical designs and specifications for projects and initiatives.
  • Estimate effort to determine a course of action for a project.
  • Work closely with external vendors and other personnel to optimize and facilitate the best solution to meet the needs of the business.
  • Provide on-site and remote technical support services for customers in a highly complex environment.
  • Maintain technical awareness of developments within the network and security technology industry and evaluate the applicability of those developments to needs of the company and our customers.
Qualifications
  • Industry Networking Certifications (Arista Specific Certs desired but not required).
  • 8+ years of experience within an MSP, VAR, ISP, NOC, or enterprise IT environment.
  • 8+ years of experience with network and security technologies, to include, but not limited to: Cisco, Dell, Arista, HP, Aruba, and Juniper switching and routing devices, Fortigate, Sonicwall, and Palo Alto firewalls etc.
  • The ability to determine the information necessary to strategically assess market situations, as well as the ability to evaluate and determine optimal plans of action is essential.
  • Excellent communication skills, including verbal, written, and presentation is necessary. Active listening skills are required.
  • Excellent influencing and consultative skills with the ability to proactively identify and resolve issues and opportunities.
  • The ability to determine the information necessary to strategically assess market situations, as well as the ability to evaluate and determine optimal plans of action is essential.
Desirable Background and Skills
  • Experience in deploying VMWare Virtualization environments
  • Experience in deploying iSCSI/NVMe/TCP Virtualization environments
  • Experience in other Vendor (Fortinet, Palo Alto, Cisco, Dell)networking technologies
