Fill Vs Fit
If you are given a few containers of varied sizes to fill in you could choose to fill it with anything you like, perhaps just one item in all the containers. Now that is filling. And that is how recruitment works; they fill in all the job openings. But talent acquisition is not filling it is fitting. It is like you are given a few containers of varied sizes and shapes and you have to find just the right lid that fits each container. And to add to it, you have to search for those lids from a pile of lids which is ‘n’ number of times more than the number of containers. That is talent acquisition. It is finding the right fit. What are the steps to finding the right fit?
Try to see what is not visible
The workings of a company are not very clearly visible to an outsider. Therefore try to understand and analyze the work done at the company. Find out what is happening at each role and try and figure out if there is any wastage. This will help the talent acquisition team to assign appropriate values to each role in the company.
In other words they take time to regularly analyze the key skills required, so that their company does not end up with redundant “key” people.
Anticipate the attrition rates
Anticipating a time when many employees might leave the organization will help them to quickly look for desirable candidates. This way the talent acquisition industry ensures that the jobs are not vacant for a long duration which would affect the organization and its production or services adversely.
Have their fingers on the pulse of the skill
Because of the volatile nature of technology there is always a need for a new set of skills or expertise. Having their fingers on the pulse of technology and ever evolving skills will help the talent acquisition industry to quickly notice if there is an opening for new skills and grab it before it is too late.
Make optimal use of the experienced ones
Ensuring that there is a good succession plan works wonders in retaining talent. With such a plan, the employee will not only feel secure but also have personal growth to look forward to in the future. This way the employee will feel motivated to give his best. This is one way the talent acquisition industry makes the best use of the experienced and talented employees.
Balance is achieved with a kaleidoscope of people
Life would be less interesting if we were to see one color or taste one food all the time. Diversity is an essential part of life and so has become an essential part of the organization. Diversity motivates the employees to become creative and think out of the box. A talent acquisition industry makes sure that things are well balanced with diversity. They might include people of different races or languages or genders.
Plan a thoughtful strategy
It is very difficult to motivate a content employee of another company to consider a move to your company. Therefore a thoughtful strategy needs to be planned by the talent acquisition industry to acquire positive results. They will have to propose and present the offer in a very personalized and compelling manner. They should feel the need to change. Only when the candidates are able to see their personal growth in the new company, will they feel motivated to leave their company and join the new company.
Talent acquisition is the art of attracting and retaining desirable candidates.
